I can really relate to Mulan in this scene. Being Chinese we believe in respect and honoring our parent's wishes. Like Mulan, her parents expects something from her. Keep her in place to be what's expected. In her case, a young lady that is ready to be a wife.

For me, my parents expect, what? Doctor? Lawyer? Engineer? Because they wish they had the same opportunities I do. And there's always that question, "Should I be what is expected and live a smooth life that is paved for me already to take? Or take a risk and be ambitious?"

Should we be more like Mulan?
